Water is one of the most important substances of life, but the detailed structure and dynamical properties at interfaces is far from well understood. Many fundamental questions in physics, chemistry and biology are directly related to the chemical and physical properties of interfacial water. Due to the complex nature of the problem, to understand interfacial water, one needs to resort to many different experimental techniques as well as theoretical methods. We believe that collaborations of many different fields will be required to gain understanding on aqueous interface which has many scientifically, environmentally and technologically important applications. The aim of this workshop is to promote water research as well as to critically address some of the recent developments in the field of liquid water and aqueous interfaces.

人生是一系列的選擇題。你對於生涯的規劃，尤其是面對選擇要不要當一個科學家，是否帶著不少的迷惘？從某方面來說，科學研究可以是相當有趣的，科學家不必自掏腰包，就能玩又貴又好的大玩具；從另一方面來看，科學研究可能是相當艱難的，研究者總是在問大家都不確定答案的問題，並且在有限的設備與人力之下，苦思解決之道。因此本次活動將邀請多位科學家以自身的經驗，介紹他們多年來從事研究時的心路歷程，並建議想成為一個成功的科學家應有的準備…等等。

Welcome to the official website of the 2011 Sustainable Energy Workshop (SEW 2011), which will be held during December 15-16, 2011 at Dr. Poe Lecture Hall, IAMS, Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan. The workshop aims to bring together researchers in sustainable energy and related technologies in Taiwan, United States, Germany and China for future collaborations. The workshop will cover Surface & Gas Dynamics, Nanoscience, Catalysis, and Modeling & Simulation. Not only the researchers, but also graduate students are welcomed. Boxed lunch will be prepared for the registered participants. A bus between NCHU/NCTU to NTU will be arranged depending on the number of people from Hsinchu
