Guideline

How to Apply
Applicants have to select a lab and earn agreement from the hosting PI of IAMS first. The length of the internship will be determined by the hosting PI. While there will be no application deadline, students need to estimate how much time is required to apply for visa to arrive in Taiwan and then set the date with the hosting PI. IAMS will release utmost 30 internship vacancies every year. The cost of internship (living allowance & airfare) will be covered by the hosting PI from his/ her own project funding.
The applicant has to submit the following documents in one PDF by email to Ms. Bonnie Lin at hsiuyu@gate.sinica.edu.tw, who will send the following required application materials to the Academic Committee at IAMS for review:
  • Study plan
  • Note: Please use the template provided (Download)
  • Applicant’s CV
  • Academic Transcripts (both undergraduate and graduate study if any)
  • Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree
  • Note: If you are an undergraduate student, please provide the scanned copy of your student ID card or any proof of your student status.
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Note: The letter of recommendation cannot be written by the hosting PI. Also, the referee can directly send the letter to Ms. Bonnie Lin at hsiuyu@gate.sinica.edu.tw
  • Any supporting materials or awards which are helpful to the application
Living Allowance and Student Obligation
  • Living Allowance:The student will receive a monthly stipend of NT$30,000 (before tax).
  • Airfare Subsidy:Half of the cost of the economy class round-trip ticket will be subsidized (up to a maximum of NT$15,000).
  • Casualty Insurance:IAMS will buy casualty insurance for every applicant during the internship. However, it needs to be paid by the applicant himself/ herself.
  • Student Obligation:The applicant is asked to hold a wrap-up presentation, which should be evaluated by the hosting PI, at the end of the internship.
