This laboratory
focuses its research on elucidating the correlation of structures
and electronic interactions at nanoscale, and the evolution
dynamics of surface/interface morphology. Such studies are
conducted in both real and momentum space by employing ultrahigh
vacuum variable temperature scanning probe microscopy and
spot-profile analysis low energy electron diffraction.Additionally,
the laboratory is equipped with a mini molecular beam epitaxy
system that allows controlled growth of a series of heterostructures.Specific
areas under investigation at present include (1) diffusion,
coarsening, and reshaping of nanoclusters. (2) adsorption structure
of radicals on metal surfaces and the associated electronic
screening. (3) morphological instability of strained superlattice
and its application in optoelectronics.
