Introduction:
Following the 1st Winter School held in Beijing China December 2006, and 2nd Winter School held in Okazaki Japan January 2008, the 3rd Winter School of Asian CORE program: "Frontiers of Materials, Photo-, and Theoretical Molecular Sciences" will be held at Taipei, Taiwan in January of 2009. The Winter School of Asian CORE Program is aiming to provide young researchers a solid basis for understanding the significance and impacts of the molecular science at the present, through various lectures covering fundamental aspects to most advanced achievements given by experts in the fields from the whole world. In addition, intimate mutual communication in classes, the poster session, and other activities in the Winter School will promote heartfelt friendship between the younger participants coming from many regions in East Asia.
The general framework of the 3rd Winter School is basically the same as the last one in IMS, OKAZAKI with very little modification. Same as last year, the lectures presented in the Winter School will be categorized into three:
1) Plenary lectures: 5 lecturers, who have their close connections in Asia and now actively carrying out frontier researches in other countries, e.g., US, Canada, or Europe.
2) Lectures to all the participants: On advanced topics, but containing enough introduction part on the fundamental aspects. This part will include 6 lectures of ca 60 min each, on material, photo-, and theoretical molecular sciences. The 2 lecturers are from each of China, Korea, and Japan.
3) Lectures (and practices) for grouped participants: Participants select one of the three topical groups (on material, photo-, and theoretical molecular sciences) in according to their interests.
In addition to above three lectures, poster session, and excursion are also planned.
